PREFACE
COEXISTENCE

CSVPA China 2023 Graduation Exhibition “Coexistence” is divided into two parts: online and offline, covering excellent student works in four major directions: 3D and contemporary art, fashion& textile, graphic communication and illustration, and fine art. From the light and shadow device evolved from the form of natural objects to the fabric transformation developed by the reflection of marine garbage, a story picture book about self-acceptance adapted from the movie《Love Letter》, and the statue of Michelangelo’s Holy Child reconstructed in the context of artificial intelligence, the creation of CSVPA China 2023 graduates put forward a series of coexisting problems provide challenging and innovative solutions.

The exhibition also explores the unique educational concept of CSVPA China while putting forward the proposition of the era of “coexistence”: the pioneering artistic concept and solid investigation and research are the basis of art and design practice; understand the boundaries and intersections of different art and design disciplines, and cross-use professional technology and creative methods;establish problem awareness in the cultural background and personal context, find a foothold for creation, and share an open future with the world while pursuing an independent voice.

Art and design practice is a way to connect students with the reality around them and start a “coexistence” dialogue with multiculturalism, nature, self-existence, new technologies and different materials from a personal perspective. In the exhibition, students transform abstract concepts into unique experiences: memories are reshaped into visual scenes of different forms, psychological processes are externalized into entanglement of clothing fabrics and structures, and games of light and shadow in the form of space. As a result, a relationship beyond the visual level is established between the work and the audience, and resonates with the interpretation of emotions and meanings.
